That's karma for you! Johnny Depp is seen trashing Ricky Gervais for his criticism of The Tourist at the Golden Globes in a sketch for new show Life's Too Short
He caused his fair share of controversy when he hosted the Golden Globes earlier this year, by poking fun at celebrities including Charlie Sheen and Ewan McGregor.
But Ricky Gervais must have known that some of his more close to the mark quips would come back to haunt him.
And now Johnny Depp has sought revenge on the British comedian, berating him for making fun of his movie The Tourist at the awards ceremony.
However, the debate was not quite as it first seemed, as Depp is actually appearing in a sketch for Gervais and Stephen Merchant's new comedy TV show Life's Too Short.
In the scene, Depp is seen meeting up with Gervais and Merchant after being introduced to them by Warwick Davis, who plays the head of a talent agency.
After being introduced to Merchant, Depp sees Gervais, and makes his feelings about him very clear when he stubs a cigarette out into his glass of water.
What's going on? Ricky looked concerned as Depp started laying into him
Struggling to stay straight-faced: Warwick Davis, who also appears in the show, seemed to be finding the altercation very amusing
Asked by Davis if he had met Gervais before, Depp replies: 'I actually remember him from the Golden Globes.'
When Gervais then asks Depp how he's doing, the Hollywood actor replies: 'I'm fine, man. Just doing another film that's going to make loads of money, probably a lot more money than any film you've ever made. And you?'
Gervais replies: 'Just writing - I write and direct all my own stuff.'
Depp then goes on to talk about his upcoming movie projects, including a film with Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter, telling Gervais: 'She thinks you're an idiot!'
Defensive: An unapologetic Gervais was seen telling Depp that he was only joking
Gervais then starts nervously laughing before asking Depp, 'I'm sorry, have I done something to offend you?'
Depp retorts: 'What do you mean? Like trashing me in front of 200 million people at the Golden Globes?'
To which an unapologetic Gervais answers: 'That was a while ago, they were jokes Johnny.'
Depp then makes reference to Gervais poking fun at Toy Story 3 actor Tim Allen at the awards, telling him: 'I actually got together with a few pals after the awards, and we wrote some jokes about you.
Controversial: Gervais came under fire for some of his close to the mark jokes at the Golden Globes earlier this year
Smiling through: Depp took the jokes well at the Golden Globes
'I want you to know this and I want you to carry this with you for the rest of your days: No one makes fun of Tim Allen on my watch.'
The on-screen banter between Depp and Gervais comes after The Office comedian blasted The Tourist - the thriller Depp made with Angelina Jolie - at the Globes.
He said during the ceremony: 'It was a big year for 3D movies. Toy Story, Despicable Me, Tron.
Blasted: Depp with Angelina Jolie in last year's thriller The Tourist
'It seems like everything this year was three-dimensional, except the characters in The Tourist. I already feel bad about that joke. I'm jumping on the bandwagon, because I haven't even seen The Tourist. Who has?'
He later added: 'I'd like to quash the rumours that the only reason The Tourist was nominated was so that the Hollywood Foreign Press can hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.
'That is rubbish, that is not the only reason - they also accepted bribes.'
