Business as usual: Kim Kardashian appeared her her first television interview in Australia on Thursday morning alongside sister Khloe to promote her new handbag range and briefly mention her failed marriage

Kim Kardashian has her filter turned on - and still isn't letting much slip about her ill-fated marriage to Kris Humphries.

During her first television interview since announcing her split on Monday, Kim would only give 'intuition' as the reason why she broke things off with her 26-year-old husband.

Asked by Sunrise breakfast hosts David Koch and Melissa Doyle on Thursday morning whether she fought to save the marriage, Kim responded: 'I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just to listen to your intuition and follow your heart, there's no right or wrong thing to do.'

Protective: The sisters spoke to hosts David Koch and Melissa Doyle, but Kim refused to go into detail about why she dumped Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage, only saying she 'listened to her intuition'

When pressed on whether she had considered counselling, Kim clammed up: 'I'm not ready to get into it.'

Kim had more to say on the business front, and happily plugged her new handbag launch as she was interviewed alongside protective sister Khloe.

Asked how she was coping, Kim said: 'I really wanted to stick with my commitment to come out to Australia. I love the fan base here.

'I did want some time to myself but I don't want to bale on everyone and skip out on this commitment here.

Promotional blitz: Kim went on to plug her new range at various Australian department stores today with her sister Khloe

'I've got Khloe and Lamar here and we're just getting through it.'

Khloe added: 'I'm really proud of Kim for not baling. She's being really strong. Lamar and I are here to be her support.

Kim's comments in her televised interview echoed her non-committal responses when she was interviewed on Australian radio about the breakdown of her 72-day marriage.

Acting up: Earlier Khloe fooled around on the balcony of their Sydney hotel with husband Lamar Odom

Earlier, the 31-year-old told Australian radio host Kyle Sandilands: 'I don't think I'm ready to go into details of what went on in my marriage.'

Critics will argue that by hinting that there is more to reveal, Kim is simply trailing future episodes of her reality show.

It's already been reported that the new series of Kim and Kourtney Take New York will feature the doomed relationship heavily.

Ugly truth: Kim was seen arguing with Kris just days before the split was announced and she says she's 'not yet ready' to say what was going on

Support: Kim had support from friend Mel B at her clothing launch on Wednesday night in Australia and she was also joined by sister Khloe and Natalie Bassingthwaite

So with interest in its breakdown at a premium, it would serve Kim well not to be ready to discuss details before the November 27 premiere on E! picks up the tale.

During the interview, Kim also added weight to the argument that her announcement was carefully calculated by admitting she used her trip Down Under as an 'escape' from her troubles in Los Angeles.

It is, of course, also a business endeavour to promote the Kardashian Kollection for Sears.

Sullen: Kim took care to maintain her grimace throughout what seemed to be a convivial conversation

But despite the mercantile nature of her visit, the sombre star repeated the mantra of denial when it came to discussing claims that her wedding to NBA player Humphries was a money-bagging sham.

The wedding generated $18 million in profit, though Kim's mother, Kris Jenner, 55 , outrageously claims that it left her daughter out of pocket.

Kim chanted to Sandilands and his 2Day host, Jackie O yesterday, in her squeaky monotone drawl that she would 'never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that.'

But in a moment of realisation, she acknowledged: 'It's ridiculous that I have to defend that, but I guess that's what comes along with when you film your wedding for a reality show.'

Lost in thought: But then Kim says she has much more to reveal

Back in the US, her mother was busy spinning the same line on the Today show.

With all the genuine warmth and conviction of a party politician, Jenner told Today host Ann Curry that the wedding 'wasn't a sham'.

She then oddly asserted that she knew about her daughter's decision to divorce 'a few days earlier' because 'Kim and I are really close'.

'It’s just our job now to wrap our arms around her through thick and thin,' she said.

Jenner, who was on the show to promote her book Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian, continued: 'It certainly wasn’t for TV. We have enough going on on our show that we don’t have to make things up. She felt that she was in love with him.

It was an amazing time … I had no idea there was a problem at the time. It saddens all of us.'

Defence: Kris Jenner pushed the party line back in the US while Kim spoke out in Australia

Kim's 'momager,' who released her cash in tome yesterday just hours after Kim's statement, made no reference of course, to the huge viewing numbers drawn in specifically for Kim's wedding episode, or the $15 million in TV rights alone that was garnered by the family for the special.

Kris did add: 'Kim feels that she’s let a lot of people down. She’s sick about it.'

Her daughter was certainly pulling the kind of sad faces you'd associate with a spot of post-break up nausea as she posed at her launch in Sydney.

Obviously well-instructed by her mother, Kim mugged a series of pained grimaces in a relatively sober patterned dress and black cape at Hugo's department store last night.

Promotion: The name of Kris's book is visible as she gives her interview about Kim

It was another tactic that misfired as the reality behemoth aimed for sad but looked merely sullen.

She was joined by her sister Khloe, her husband Lamar Odom and Australian X Factor judges Natalie Bassingthwaite, Mel B and her husband Stephen Belafonte.

The 36-year-old former Spice Girl was a guest at Kim's fairytale wedding in Montecitio, California on August 21, but if she was miffed about shelling out for a wedding present, it didn't show.

The mother-of-two, who gave birth to baby Madison last month, smiled warmly as she supported her friend.

She is certainly someone who could offer advice on how to weather a scandal.

Her former husband was arrested this month on a charge of battery against their 12-year-old daughter and she was embroiled in an embarrassing scandal when ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy questioned the paternity of their four-year-old daughter, Angel, while she was heavily pregnant.

Her wedding to 12-year-old Phoenix's father Jimmy Gulzar lasted for just over a year.

Kim's po-faced public appearance came just hours after she posted a statement on her official website in an attempt to stem the flow of hoax accusations.

She told fans: 'I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!'

'Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon.

'I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have.

'I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.'

She added: 'There are also reports that I made millions of dollars off of the wedding. These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this.

'I’m so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding and I’ll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation.'

Kim is thought to be donating $200,000 to the charity.
